We believe in the power of women to create safer, stronger communities. That’s why we are launching the Women-Led Community Safety & Empowerment Project – a grassroots initiative supported by the Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner, to equip marginalised women, including those from Black, Asian and other Minority Ethnic, those seeking asylum and refugee communities, with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to engage in public safety and crime prevention.
Why This Matters
In response to the recent racist and Islamophobic riots, it has become clear that more must be done to ensure the safety and well-being of women in our communities. Many of our members, as well as those from partner organisations, have been personally affected. This project is about taking action – ensuring that those who have experienced fear, discrimination, and violence have a platform for their voices to be heard and the support they need to move forward.
