We’re thrilled to announce the return of This Is Africa, taking place for the second year in a row – and once again, we’re proud to be collaborating with Home Group to bring this vibrant celebration to life!

This Is Africa is more than just an event. It’s a joyful, powerful celebration of African culture, community, and connection — right here in the North East. Following last year’s fantastic turnout filled with dancing, laughter, delicious food, and even activities for children, we’re bringing it back bigger and better in 2025.

In the heart of the North East, where such cultural spaces are still limited, This Is Africa stands as a joyful resistance to marginalisation, offering a platform for visibility, storytelling, and intergenerational connection. It brings together people from all walks of life,  whether African, Afro-descendant, or allies – to honour the richness and beauty of African cultures in all their diversity.

Through dance, food, music, art, and conversation, we celebrate the resilience, creativity, and humanity of our communities. This is about reclaiming narratives, embracing joy, and being unapologetic in who we are.
