Since its inception, Teakisi has championed the importance of equipping women with practical skills to empower their lives and communities. Skill-building has been a cornerstone of our work, evolving alongside the needs of the women we serve. Listening to our community has always been at the heart of Teakisi’s approach.

Digital literacy has opened countless doors for women, from accessing vital resources to exploring entrepreneurial opportunities. Recognising the diversity of needs within our community, we introduced new workshops to provide both practical and creative outlets. While initially designed to promote well-being, sewing, braiding, and crochet have proven to be more than just hobbies. They equip women with everyday skills that can enhance their homes or even blossom into thriving businesses.

In addition to these hands-on workshops, our Creative Residency Programme empowers women through storytelling and digital expression. This initiative nurtures a cohort of women by teaching them blogging, content creation, and other creative skills that amplify their voices and experiences. By providing a platform for self-expression, the programme not only fosters personal growth but also contributes to a broader narrative of empowerment and inclusion.

Teakisi’s work extends beyond skill-building to address the deeper challenges of inequality and social justice. By creating spaces where women feel seen, heard, and valued, we foster an environment that encourages inclusion and equity. Fighting inequalities remains central to our mission, as we aim to empower women to challenge systemic barriers and build more just communities.

Our commitment to skill-building doesn’t stop here. We understand that communities are dynamic, and their needs evolve. As we look to the future, we remain open to introducing new and diverse workshops based on the aspirations of the women we serve. Whether it’s upskilling in technology, exploring traditional crafts, or delving into entirely new areas, Teakisi is ready to adapt and grow.

Skill-building is more than just learning; it’s about creating opportunities, fostering resilience, and enabling women to realise their potential. Through workshops and programmes, we continue to empower women to lead fulfilling lives, contribute to their communities, and, where desired, turn their skills into viable businesses.

We look forward to expanding this journey of empowerment and welcoming more women into our initiatives.
