There is training available to those who wish to become more involved.

We are pleased to confirm that our partnership with RolePlayNorth will continue into a second year! This service with Newcastle University provides simulated patients for all medical and dental school assessments and is involved in a wide variety of exams as well as a number of courses and workshops.

RolePlayNorth provides Newcastle University with a supply of medical role players to help with communication skills across the region.

Our partnership sees us recruit Black, Asian and other minority ethnic role-players to join a database that includes people from all walks of life. Teakisi’s role will enhance diversity when attracting new inspirational people to RolePlayNorth.

Our recruits not only receive reputable employment but also act as role-models for these organisations.

These recruits are creating a huge impact for the organisations, by giving a more realistic representation of our diverse community.

What it’s about?

All students need to see an appropriate range of diverse simulated patients throughout their medical and pharmaceutical studies. At Teakisi, we believe we are best placed to bring this to Newcastle University.

We are looking for individuals who either have a drama and performance background or otherwise experience and an interest in the development of communication skills.

Successful applicants must be prepared to learn a role but also feel comfortable giving feedback to small groups of students regarding their communication skills. We are an educational resource and as such it is very important that these skills can be demonstrated.

Some are ex-professionals, but our recruitment process is not at all exclusive and we would urge people from all minoritised communities to apply.

The Interview
Applicants will be invited to take part in an interview conducted over zoom by the university medical school staff. During the interview applicants will be asked why they are interested in the post and past relevant work and life experience will be discussed.
